After months of debate, Louisville Parks and Recreation officials announced the reopening of loops at Iroquois and Cherokee Park. Rundill Road in Iroquois Park will reopen to its pre-COVID route immediately, while vehicle access to some parts of Cherokee Park will be restored mid-June. While the southernmost part of Rundill Road in Iroquois Park will remain closed, the rest of the loop will reopen. Uphill Road and Toppill Road will be open to cars periodically, a map released by Parks and Rec shows.

Updated: 3:18 PM EDT May 25, 2021 WLKY Digital Team Louisville Parks and Recreation officials announced the park loop road in Iroquois and Cherokee Park will reopen to their pre-COVID-19 routes.The decision came after months of public feedback and collaboration with Mayor Greg Fischer, Metro Council, Olmsted Parks Conservancy, and others.Vehicle access to the Hogan’s Fountain and Rugby Field areas of Cherokee Park will be restored under a new plan in mid-June. Crews will be installing traffic control measures, signage, and newly painted lines in certain areas, prior to the reopening of the loop. The maps below illustrate which portions of the parks will be open.According to data provided by the Conservancy, at Cherokee Park, the average user visit went from 30 minutes to 77 minutes following the closure.
