$2m in assets recovered after major gang bust in Hawke s Bay

Police have arrested six people after a major operation in Hawke s Bay. Police have seized $2 million in assets and made six arrests during a major operation in Hawke’s Bay this week. Fifteen motor vehicles, including a 2020 Range Rover, high-end classic cars, two trucks, four Harley Davidson motorbikes, and a dirt bike, were seized. Also taken was jewellery, a boat, two jet skis, trailers and a digger. Detective Inspector Rob Jones, Eastern District, said the National Organised Crime Group and Eastern District Police had executed multiple search warrants across Hawke’s Bay during the past three days, as part of Operation Dusk, an 18-month investigation targeting senior members of the Mongrel Mob.

The incident happened on Raithwaite Close around 12.15am this morning, (Tuesday). There were occupants inside the property at the time, who were fortunately unharmed. Officers are appealing for information regarding three men, all described as being dressed in dark clothing, who were seen near to the property shortly before the incident. Detective Inspector Rob Jones, from Redcar and Cleveland CID, said: “We have additional patrols in the area around Raithwaite Close as we continue our enquiries this morning and we will continue to provide a high visibility presence in the area to reassure the local community. “We are carrying out house to house enquiries and are asking any local residents who may have seen these males, or anyone who may have CCTV which could assist our investigation to come forward.”
