Now is the time to sow seeds for spring and early summer biennials.
These include forget-me-nots, wallflowers (pictured), Sweet Williams, foxgloves, pansies and more. They’re all easy to grow from seed.
So if you’ve bought them as plants in the past, try some from seed instead this year. All you need is an outdoor area of soil which is usable as a seed-bed. Work the soil down to crumbly, friable consistency. Mark out the area and then sow your seeds in rows, thinly and not too deeply. If the weather turns dry, irrigate the soil to keep it moist.

HENDERSON â Despite this yearâs COVID 19 pandemic, the Daisy Garden Club of Henderson, has remained true to carrying out its goal of being active and making a positive impact in the community.
Recently, the club donated items to the Salvation Army seasonal project. Members would like to encourage other clubs to donate to various community organizations in need.
Some of the club activities included: beautifying plots at Perry Memorial Library with Black-Eyes Susans, Sweet Williams and Liriope flowering plants and Davis-Royster Funeral Home with Begonias and Vinca flowering plants; virtually visiting members flower gardens; touring Mrs. Sylvia Wilsonâs flower gardens; acknowledging veterans with cards and calls; preparing food and goodie bags for the homeless; contributing financially to Shop with Cops, donating to Give Hope for The Holidays (food boxes, through Food Lion); and making pillowcase dresses to be donated to Haiti.
