A 27-step action plan has been devised to cater for Mackayâs growing population and transport needs by road, rail, sea and air. The Mackay Region Integrated Transport Strategy outlines actions to be taken immediately, those over the next five years and long-term actions covering the period 2025 to 2036.
âAs a multi-modal strategy, MRITS considers the current and future role of the more traditional transport modes such as planes, trains, (cars), boats, pedestrians and bikes as well as those that are emerging and are perhaps a little less well-known such as rideshare and personal mobility devices, for example e-scooters,â the draft strategy posted to Mackay Regional Councilâs website stated.
