Boys & Girls Club In Gardner Begins New Construction The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kennebec Valley in Gardnier has always worked hard to give back to communities that it serves. Now after fund raising for over four years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kennebec Valley has finally broken ground to begin building it s new clubhouse that will serve as a community center for both kids and elderly adults and almost triple the current capicity. The Great Futures capital campaign is close to reaching it s goal but is still in need according to their Facebook page. The ground breaking ceremony was attended by over 100 people all lending a hand for this wonderful acheivement. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kennebec Valley recently signed withn Lajoie Brothers Inc to begin contruction.

Share GARDINER Elected officials agreed Wednesday to commit to donate $500,000 toward the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley for its new building over a period of several years. The money would come from the city’s fund balance money the city already has on hand, similar to a savings account and from revenue from the Libby Hill Tax Increment Financing district. On the recommendation of District 1 City Councilor Terry Berry, it will paid out only when fundraising reaches $9.5 million.

By Staff A $10 million community center, designed to serve children, families and seniors from across the Kennebec Valley region, broke ground in Gardiner on Wednesday with over 100 supporters in attendance. The groundbreaking for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kennebec Valley center marked a milestone, after the nonprofit raised funds for over four years to build the community facility, according to a news release. The goal of the new clubhouse is to serve more children and seniors. The club still needs to raise $650,000 to reach the $10 million goal of its “Great Futures” capital campaign, but is moving forward with construction to better serve the community. Once built, the new clubhouse will nearly triple its capacity.
