The Shit Towns of Australia Facebook page has made fun of many Aussie towns, and the seaside destination of Yeppoon was one of their latest targets on May 12. The page describes itself as the foremost authority on shit towns of Australia and their roasts often get a share of good and not-so-good feedback. A screenshot of the Liberal Party Facebook page (Image: Facebook) Much of the budget lead-up is filled with drops, hints and forward sizzles for what’s to come, delivered through the media. But a look at the government’s direct political communication can reveal what they are actually trying to achieve and who they are targeting. The Mayor Of Port Pirie, SA s Shittest Town, Is Sick Of That Title

Leon Stephens, however, isn’t terribly jazzed about the whole shebang. Speaking to the ABC, Stephens stated “I might be showing my age or whatever but I think this is getting pretty tired. It’s a bit like a Dad joke that’s continually going on and I think that it’s time that we changed it up a little bit.” Stephens also tried to take a cheap shot at Shit Towns of Australia co-founder  Geoff Rissole, claiming that the Shittest Town in South Australia title was “probably about as impressive as a name called Geoff Rissole.” Which is an interesting way to put it, because there’s a very strong argument for both the Shittest Town in South Australia title

Scott Morrison targets Australian-Indian community with Facebook ads explaining travel ban

In the nearly nine-minute-long video, Morrison notes the Indian community in Australia is a “generous and kind community” going through a difficult time. “I know this is a time of great pain and great fear, as many families in Australia have lost ones in India,” he says in the video. “You know we are witnessing in India an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe.” But he explained the decision to ban returning Australians from India on the basis of medical advice. He said the “temporary” pause would be reconsidered on 15 May, and reviewed every day before then. One of the videos with no subtitles, which ran for one day and was targeted to reach between 500,000 and 1 million people, cost $800-$900. Two subtitled videos in Hindi and Punjabi, which are still running at the time of publication, are aimed at reaching between 100,000-500,000 and 50,000-100,000 respectively. Those two videos cost $900-$1,100 together, putting the total spend at close to $2,000.
