Sophie Manolas has two sons, and she experienced both births as traumatic.
So much so that despite wanting a third child, she feels completely unable to go through with another pregnancy and birth. There s things that I ll be dealing with for the rest of my life, Ms Manolas says. There s a lot of numbness because there s so much scar tissue. There was a big effect on our sex life and I m not sure if it ll ever be the same.
As of today, Victoria has recorded 47 straight days with no local cases of COVID-19.
All overarching restrictions for hospital visitors were dropped under the direction of Victoria s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton three weeks ago.
Visitor policies, including for ultrasounds, are now being decided by the hospitals themselves.
While some public hospitals have started allowing partners in for ultrasounds, many are still forcing pregnant women to attend them alone, birth trauma counsellor and social worker Tamara Bluhm said.

Ms Bluhm, who is herself 32 weeks pregnant with her second child, said the hospital she was attending had barred her husband from going to ultrasounds.
