Apple has launched macOS Big Sur 11.2. And while you shouldn’t dawdle when it comes to major system updates, know that there aren’t any new features in this release to worry about it’s all bug fixes and security updates. If you have a brand-new M1 Mac that you use with an external display, however, you might want to prioritise this patch today.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 debuts over a month after macOS Big Sur 11.1 release
Apple has released macOS Big Sur 11.2 for all compatible Mac computers. The new update comes one-and-a-half months after the release of the macOS Big Sur 11.1 that came in December 2020 bringing support for AirPods Max headphones. The macOS Big Sur 11.2 update addresses a list of problems, including Bluetooth reliability and an issue causing external displays to show a black screen on some Apple M1-powered Mac mini computers. Apple has also fixed iCloud Drive access and the Photos app.

MacOS Big Sur (also known as macOS 11) has been updated to version 11.2, days after its sibling release iOS 14.4. There are no significant new features in this release, but it’s suggested you update your Mac anyway, as it contains several bug fixes and (more importantly) security updates.
Apple’s release notes mention just a handful of bug fixes.
macOS Big Sur 11.2 improves Bluetooth reliability and fixes the following issues:
Apple has released the macOS Big Sur 11.2 update that fixes Bluetooth reliability issues on Macs with the M1 processor.
Users who can update to the latest version can wait for the automatic update to begin overnight, or open the System Preferences app and select Software Update. The update arrives alongside iOS 14.4 which was focused on bug fixes and minor feature updates.
The update addresses an issue reported by users whose Bluetooth devices were disconnecting from their M1-based Macs. The issue affected peripherals like mice and keyboards and even AirPods.

Apple on Thursday released a third release candidate version of its upcoming macOS Big Sur 11.2 update to developers and member of the public beta program.
The latest RC arrives just three days after a second version was issued on Monday and six days following an initial RC build last week.
Developers can download the most recent Big Sur release from Apple s Developer Center or as an over-the-air update. A public beta versions is available for download from the Apple Beta Software Program website.
The macOS Big Sur update appears aimed mainly at introducing under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes. A significant change is the striking of a controversial exclusion list that allowed Apple apps and processes to bypass firewalls.
