Nostalgic Music We Hate to Love

We all have that one guilty pleasure tune that we just can’t bear to move on from. Our writers dish out their most-loved nostalgic tunes, albeit ones they only ever listen to in secret!
Demi Lovato – ‘La La Land’
Demi Lovato was EVERYWHERE on Disney Channel back in the day, and her tune ‘La La Land’ would pop up in the adverts between
Sonny with a Chance and
Hannah Montana all the time. I was obsessed with it at the time, and still kind of love it now, despite its obvious cringeyness. This was definitely Lovato in her fledgling songwriter stage; the lyrics are…. bad, to put it bluntly. ”I’m not a supermodel/ I still eat MacDonalds/ That’s just me”? It’s not exactly poetry, and REEKS of the whole ‘I’m not like other girls’ trend. However, Lovato’s delivery in ‘La La Land’ is fantastic, despite the cringey lyrics;

The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
Considering that the first two film adaptations of the trilogy were released during my prime high school years, it’s safe to say that
The Hunger Games rapidly made its way onto the list of favourite series. Hell, I even went to Comic-Con dressed as Katniss one year! I even wrote my A-Level coursework on it.
I received the full trilogy of books on my birthday one year, and by the next day, I had finished all three. Even reading through class when all work was done. For me, the story of Katniss from District 12 and her desire to win the titular games for her sister was the hook that sent me on a literary ride for just over a thousand pages. One girl, one sister, one goal: survive.
Our Dream Live Covers

We all have a song that we love that is a tad cheesy. Despite that, we’d love some of the hottest talent around to cover one of our guilty pleasure songs live. From the big names to the up-and-coming, our writers cover what they’d love to see performed and by who!
Taylor Swift – ‘Potential Breakup Song’
Aly & AJ’s ‘Potential Breakup Song’ is already a tune by itself; play that anywhere and you’ll get everyone dancing along. It’s the perfect ‘screw you’ song to all those terrible exes the majority of us have. That’s why I think it would be the PERFECT song for breakup song queen, Taylor Swift. Can you imagine the power of Taylor singing this song, especially in a concert setting? Unbeatable. It fits in perfectly with her already great roster of breakup songs, from ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, to ‘Bad Blood’, to ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’… the list goes on. Not to mention, its blatancy
Our Ultimate Karaoke Songs
Whether you are a regular or one-timer at your local karaoke night, our writers make their case for the best songs to sing your heart out to. Grab your mic or hairbrush and prepare yourselves for some classic tunes!
Anastacia – ‘Left Outside Alone’
A rock power ballad is always a go-to karaoke classic and Anastacia’s ‘Left Outside Alone’ brings the fire you need to sing those sorrows away. I personally have never been left outside alone but the minute I am given that microphone, I was left outside in the rain in complete despair with everyone in the crowd wronged me and this is my revenge. The reason I believe this is the best karaoke track of all time is due to the power and aggressiveness of the music, there is high notes, low notes, screamy notes and talk-like lyrics making it a track that (hopefully) won’t hurt the ears of those around you. It’s an anthem that everyone knows but is not quite sure how they know the lyrics. It is
