RUSKINS View in Kirkby Lonsdale had two of its bins thrown over the railings which overlooked the iconic beauty spot. The bins had been torn from their foundations and cast down the hill from the path way overlooking the landscape view, which was named after 19th century poet John Ruskin. One of the bins had rolled half way down the hill, while the other had been thrown further. Chairman of Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council, Alan Muirhead, described the act as mindless’.

Independent ice cream shop wins Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas window competition

The Milking Parlour has won Kirkby Lonsdale’s Christmas Window Competition. Kirkby Lonsdale and Lune Valley Community Interest Company (Kirkby Lonsdale CIC) announced that the small independent ice cream shop as the winner on Friday. The cash prize of £125 was awarded to the shop by Allan Muirhead, the founder of Kirkby Lonsdale CIC. WINNING WINDOW: The Milking Parlour. Credit Robin Ree. Aired virtually on Facebook Live, Mr Muirhead surprised the unknowing winners in front of a national audience, bringing the community together in celebration despite the Coronavirus pandemic. The decision was put to a public vote and the people voted for the Christmas window which told them to ‘keep your chin up & keep going’ amongst Christmas tree, baubles and personalised illustrations of Kirkby Lonsdale icons.
