Children Services, Monroe Twp. fire department seek levy renewals

LIMA Tax levy renewal proposals will appear on the May 4 ballot for the Allen County Children Services and the Monroe Township Fire Department. Renewals result in no additional tax burden on residents and simply continue a tax rate established when the levy was first presented to voters.
Children Services
The Allen County Children Services agency is asking voters countywide for their continued support at the ballot box on May 4 by approving a .5-mill, 5-year levy renewal. The proceeds from the levy, which amount to more than $900,000 annually, are used for the care and placement of children throughout the county.
Eviction deadline looms, remaining tenants have nowhere to go

Jalina Rucker, who rents at this apartment building at Elm and Kenilworth, is being evicted by March 1 with no place to go. She receives help from MET Housing but can’t find another suitable apartment to rent.
Jalina Rucker and two others received a second eviction notice on Wednesday to vacate their apartment by March 1.
LIMA Jalina Rucker had the privilege of the floor at Monday night’s Lima City Council meeting and presented a tale of woe, one in which council members themselves had no answer.
Fire damages Shawnee Township home
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP Damage is listed at $50,000 to a vacant house that caught fire at 2:38 a.m. Sunday at 1930 Rose Ave.
When Shawnee Township firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from a breezeway connecting the house with a garage.
No one was hurt.
The cause remains under investigation.
The Allen County Auditor’s Office indicates the home is owned by Mercedes Mosser and is valued at $65,800.
