Arkansas man, 70, who robbed $264 from a taco shop with a WATER GUN in 1981 is granted clemency 40 years after he was sentenced to life in prison Rolf Kaestel, 70, was convicted on a charge of aggravated robbery and was sentenced to life in prison and a $15,000 fine on June 5, 1981 He has repeatedly appealed for clemency and his fifth appeal was finally approved  Hutchinson noted there were no objections from law enforcement to Kaestel s request for clemency  Kaestel is not yet free and is currently imprisoned in Utah  There s a 30-day waiting period to receive public feedback before the governor s decision can become final 

Former Fort Smith youth church volunteer pleads guilty to sexually assaulting minors

Updated: 4:12 PM CDT June 30, 2021 FORT SMITH, Ark. A former youth church volunteer in Fort Smith has pled guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting minors. He was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction plus an additional 10 year suspended sentence.  Isiah Thompson was arrested in November of 2020 after being accused of having sexual relationships with minors when volunteering to help with youth at the Christ for the World church.   According to an affidavit released at the time of his arrest, on January 30, 2020, a church member went to the Fort Smith Police Department to report that another church member had engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a minor.
