• James W. Parrish, 35, of 710 Serenity Lane was arrested at 8:43 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and on a Morgan County warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on an order of protection violation and a Jersey County warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

• Merchandise worth $184 was stolen from a business in the 1200 block of West Morton Avenue, according to a report filed at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday.

HARTSELLE Ala. (WAFF) - When officers spotted a suspicious vehicle near a Kroger grocery store in Hartselle, it led to the arrest of a Mississippi murder suspect.
Just after 9 a.m. on May 14 at approximately, officers with the Hartselle Police Department responded to a Kroger about a suspicious vehicle.
Officers were told the car with the Mississippi plate was reported stolen from a robbery/homicide victim in Mississippi. Officers found the vehicle and before they could make contact, the driver sped off and led officers on a short chase but stopped before leaving the city limits.

States, business sort out new mask guidance

More than a dozen states quickly embraced new federal guidelines that say fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear masks indoors or out in most cases. But other states and cities and some major businesses hesitated amid doubts about whether the approach is safe or even workable.
As many business owners pointed out, there is no easy way to determine who has been vaccinated and who hasn’t. And the new guidelines, issued Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, essentially work on the honor system, leaving it up to people to do the right thing.
