Pleasantville Cross Country Looks To Rely On Senior Leadership in 2021

Pleasantville Girls Track Travels to Clarke

Pleasantville’s girls’ track team will play their second meet of the season on the road as they travel to Clarke. The Trojans finished fifth in the PCM Early Bird Invitational Tuesday with 51 points, including top three finishes from Amy Kish and Kaylee Hodenfield. In this meet, Pleasantville will also be competing with fellow Marion County foe Knoxville. Coach Aaron Fichter tells KNIA Sports that he is looking forward to getting his team back into shape as competition heats up. “A major goal was to get them out and see other kids competing and shake some of that off. Show that they can go out and compete with other kids. They need that experience.”

Both track teams will have more than half of their rosters filled with freshmen and sophomores who have never participated in a high school track meet. For girls track Coach Aaron Fichter, it will be two-thirds of his roster that he will be working with for the first time in his career.   “I think just the experience. We have a young team. Almost two-thirds of the team are freshman and sophomores, which would be a group which has never run a high school track meet before.”   Fichter also states that having youth is a double-edged sword because of how young the team will be this upcoming spring.
