Meigs Board approves agenda items Several personnel matters were approved for summer programs and the 2021-22 school year. The board approved the newly created job description for the Director of Operations and Transportation as submitted, and approved William Ellis for the position on a three year contract from Aug. 1, 2021 through July 31, 2024. The board approved to hire the following as substitute cooks for the 2021 summer feeding program, to be used on an as-needed basis, pending completion of all administrative requirements, and retroactive to June 1, 2021: Debbie Cundiff, Shelby Davis, Shane Donohue, Aaron Oliphant, Paula Roush, Nate Sisson, Jayson Tillis. Marie Pierce was approved as a Personal Assistant, retroactive to June 21-July 2, and pending completion of all administrative requirements.

TAMPA, Fla. - Nine drivers hit a major speed bump with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office after deputies announced their arrests Thursday in connection to a street racing event. Deputies said they found out when the street racing would happen through social media, so they went undercover to see what was going on the night of January 9 in a Bass Pro Shops parking lot on Palm River Road in Tampa. We had heard about an upcoming event. So we had some deputies go undercover to this area and they were able to observe this large crowd coming together in exactly what you see in the video, said Amanda Granit, a spokesperson with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

FD food drive benefits Cooperative Parish The 8th annual Pomeroy Firemen’s Association Food Drive benefited the Meigs Cooperative Parish. The Pomeroy Firemen’s Association collected 1,772 non-perishable food items and $1,267, all of which goes to the parish to stock the shelves throughout the winter months. Pictured are firemen’s association members Aaron Oliphant, Ben Young, Tyler Peyton, Jake Musser, Richard Peyton and Eddie Fife, Jr. Presenting a check to Bud Randolph of the Meigs Cooperative Parish is Fire Chief Derek Miller. The Firemen’s Association also thanks Hilda Weaver for her continued support of the food drive and organizing the pickup of all food items and money at the conclusion of the event.
