Starting Thursday, guests entering Universal Orlando will not have to get their temperature checked.
Walt Disney World said it will phase out temperature checks starting May 8 for cast members and on May 16 for guests.
When the parks reopened during the pandemic, they required temperature checks for entry. Guests could not have a temperature above 100.4 degrees.
Universal Orlando also announced it is implementing 3 feet of social distancing throughout its theme parks and resorts. It was 6 feet.
“This allows them as they manage the lines and other things for those outdoor types of settings and even indoors,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings. “They are able to increase capacity as a result of that.”

Mayor Jerry Demings has released a statement in response to Gov. Ron DeSantis decision to suspend local coronavirus emergency orders on Monday.
“In review of the governor’s executive orders, I am not surprised,” Demings wrote. “I conclude that his actions are part of a larger partisan strategy. We expect better from the governor of Florida.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday he has suspended all local government emergency orders related to COVID-19 effective immediately.
DeSantis made the announcement in St. Petersburg on Monday morning.

Florida s Disney World theme parks are evaluating their current COVID-19 safety guidelines in place following new legislation signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that suspended all remaining local government COVID-19 mandates and restrictions, including mask requirements.
DeSantis issued two new executive orders suspending all local emergency orders until July 1, 2021, at which point local orders will be permanently invalidated, the governor s office said in a statement Monday.
Private businesses, such as theme parks and hospitals, are still able to impose their restrictions.

White Castle sees record single-day sales after opening world’s largest location in Orlando, will close lines early Adam Poulisse
The Castle is king of Florida again.
After opening Monday to much fanfare in Orlando, the world’s largest White Castle saw the company’s single-day record for sales, according to White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson.
“While we can’t share the specific sales number, we can share the previous record was held by our Scottsdale location from its opening day on October 23, 2019,” Richardson said in a prepared statement.
The restaurant chain tweeted Tuesday that, for the weeks ahead, it will open each day at 9 a.m. and close the line at 10 p.m., and remain open until every customer in line by 10 p.m. has been served both inside the Castle and through the drive-thru.
