Blas Cantó has good news for y’all who enjoyed the acapella start of “Voy a Quedarme” that he included during his performance at the

Spain chooses Voy a quedarme for Blas Cantó
21 February 2021 at 00:12 CET
España has spoken! Blas Cantó will take Voy a quedarme ( I Am Going To Stay ) to the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in The Netherlands.
During a star-studded
Destino Eurovisión featuring former Spanish Eurovision icons Pastora Soler (2012) and Edurne (2015), viewers were tasked with choosing Cantó s song for Rotterdam.
It was a straight fight between
Voy a quedarme and
Memoria. The former
(a modern ballad which showcases the Spaniard’s impressive vocal registers) won with 58% of the public vote and will be performed by Blas at the Grand Final on Saturday 22 May.

“Voy a Quedarme” is Blas Cantó’s Eurovision 2021 song for Spain
Raw emotion and Blas’s moving vocals were on full display during
Destino Eurovisión. And “Voy a Quedarme” was clearly the song that showcased those assets best. The global vote saw the song win 58% of the vote, defeating the other song “Memoria”, which earned 42% of the vote.
“Voy a Quedarme” is a powerful ballad with a modern arrangement. Blas Cantó kept it subtle, performing surrounded by just a few lights and a full moon that shines brighter as the song evolves. This simple staging sought to grow along with Blas as he approached the climax of the song. Speaking to RTVE, Marvin Dietmann Spain’s stage director for Eurovision said he is all about Blas, his voice and his moment. And yes! Blas Canto’s wishes came true – he made the first change to the song and started
Spain’s Song Selection Gala
For those of you scratching your heads, yes: Spain does have a long record of using different methods for Eurovision. RTVE is set to deliver a song selection gala for Blas, just as it did for Pastora Soler (ESC 2012) and El Sueño de Morfeo (ESC 2013). However, this time the audience will have 100% of the vote and there will
not be a jury.
RTVE said: “If we want the people to decide, they will really decide. There won’t be any juries.”
Blas Cantó is all in for this method as he wants to count on Eurofan voices. As Blas says: “I want everyone to come with me, hand in hand, and support each other as in Eurovision we all go together.”
