Has Blas Cantó’s song already been chosen?
Manel sounded the alarm for many Spanish fans after suggesting there might already be a song for Blas. As he tells
COPE: “I read Blas presented four songs for Eurovision,” he said. “The team does not tell me anything. They only told me that from the four songs [eligible for Eurovision 2021] they know which one it is already, and it is much better than ‘Universo. ”
Many fans are now wondering what that means exactly. It’s thought that he means Blas himself has a favourite song from the options he sent to RTVE. This happened before with Pastora Soler and El Sueño de Morfeo. Both had their favourite song from among the offerings available in their song selection galas, which, luckily for them, also turned out to be Spain’s favourites too: “Quédate Conmigo” and “Contigo Hasta El Final”. Blas will have to see if Spain shares his preference.
Blas Cantó: Song selection gala format for Eurovision 2021
As EurovisionSpain confirms, RTVE, Blas’s team and his record label have all decided on a song selection gala for Rotterdam 2021. In this gala, which is set to take place in January or February, the Murcian singer will present his offerings and the audience will play an essential role.
Pastora Soler, who represented Spain in 2012, went through a similar song selection process. From the three offerings Spain had that year, both the audience and a professional jury agreed on “Quedate Conmigo” as their entry for Baku. Her participation culminated in a 10th place finish in 2012, remembered by many as one of the best performances in Spain’s history.
