By News Desk|   Updated: 17th March 2021 4:48 pm IST Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Tuesday arrested three men for allegedly beating a man to death for urinating in public. Inspector M Mahendar Reddy said that the accused identified as M Shankar, K Anil Babu and K Shivashankara Varaprasad- were caught in Meerpet. They were then produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. According to the police, the victim, Anand Raj was returning home in the night on Sunday and stopped to relieve himself on the roadside. Two of the accused, Anil Babu and Varaprasad, who were passing by, noticed this and started asking him why he was urinating there.

Indian Institute of Spices Research bags patent for bio-capsules

Technology involves compression of micro organisms in a capsule that can be used as fertiliser The Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) here has bagged the patent for bio-capsules, a technology it had developed in the last decade. Bio-capsules were developed by three scientists Anand Raj, R. Dinesh and Y.K. Bini at the institute. The technology involves micro organisms that are collected and compressed in a capsule, which can be used as substitute for fertilisers in agriculture. “Bio-capsules are found to have the power to improve the quality of soil as well as environmental standards, besides reducing the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides,” said J. Rema, Director of the IISR. They can be used for vegetables, coconut tress, plantain and various other crops besides spices.

Residents suffer from garbage management problems in Dhanbad

Even after almost two years of the launch of the door-to-door garbage collection campaign, the recycling plant of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation is yet to be established.  As a result of this, garbage collected from houses has been lying all over the district. The civic body is also yet to carry out segregation of dry and wet waste, while majority of the houses in 55 wards have not received garbage bins as promised under the integrated solid waste management programme of the DMC. The project, worth Rs 274 crore, was launched by the DMC on June 27, 2019, in association with Hyderabad-based agency Ramky Enviro Engineers.
