BHUBANESWAR: As many as 143 RAY (Rajiv Awas Yojana) beneficiaries of Satyakali Behera Sahi Basti in the city were given possession letter of their houses built under the Rangamatia Relocation Project-Gadakana, under the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
They received the letters in a meeting organised by BMC South East Zone at Satyanagar Park here on Thursday. Among others, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, noted musician Prafulla Kumar Kar attended the ceremony.
Survey was started in 2013 to identify beneficiaries for the housing scheme. There are 280 beneficiaries from Satyakali Basti of ward-34. Out of 280 sanctioned houses, 143 beneficiaries received the possession letter. At Rangamatia Relocation Project-Gadakana there are 600 houses for such beneficiaries. After these beneficiaries, Arabinda and Tarini Basti of ward-9, Dasaraj basti and Patra Sahi Basti of ward-12 will get their houses, said the MLA.
Handloom expo kick starts amid fanfare
Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: Organised by Boyanika, the National Level Handloom Expo 2021 was inaugurated amid much fan fare at Exhibition Ground here Wednesday.
Minsiter Of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Padmini Dian inaugurated the expo in the presence of Minister of Science and Technology, Public Enterprise, Social Security and Empowerment of PwD Ashok Chandra Panda and Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena.
With around 134 stalls, the expo featured nine yard traditional saree along with various handicrafts.
Interacting with Orissa POST, Dian said, “The government is quite concerned about our weavers and that is why we have organised this expo. Weavers have participated in large numbers and I am expecting all the losses incurred during Covid to be recovered through the fest.”
