UPDATE 7.30PM: The Peak Down Highway has opened after a mining bucket was dislodged falling across both lanes about 7am Wednesday at Epsom.
Nebo Senior Constable Andrew Perrett said the recovery equipment had been removed and both lanes were now open.
A police spokesman said the traffic had been backed up 15km during the morning, with diversions in place for vehicles.
3.55PM: A second crane has arrived at the Peak Downs Highway at Epsom after a mining truck bucket was dislodged falling across both lanes about 7am.
