Wide-Ranging Gambling Legislation Poised To Pass During Florida Special Session Sponsored by: Florida s capitol building in Tallahassee Gambling legislation is racing through Florida s House and Senate during a special session in Tallahassee that would permit the Seminole tribe to operate sports betting and allow decoupling of card rooms and casinos from Quarter Horse racing and jai-alai operations. According to multiple reports, the Senate approved a 30-year compact between the state and the Seminoles that will guarantee $500 million to the state for the first five years. The tribe can offer sports betting at its casinos along with mobile sports wagering. Pari-mutuel operations can contract with the Seminoles to accept sports wagering and split revenue on a 60/40 basis.

Cranes deployed to clear Peak Downs Highway

UPDATE 10.48am: Two cranes have been deployed to the Peak Downs Highway after a truck lost its load near the Stockyard Creek Bridge, Epsom about 7am. Nebo Senior Constable Andrew Perrett said the bucket had been dislodged from the truck falling across both lanes of the highway. Nebo police have requested all light vehicles travelling east divert at Oxford Downs Sarina Road. Heavy vehicles unable to travel the Sarina Range should seek alternative routes. A police spokesman said trucks would be unable to turn around and were stuck at the location while diversion for smaller vehicles to turn around were in place at Sutter Development Road.

Peak Downs Highway open after mine truck bucket chaos

UPDATE 7.30PM: The Peak Down Highway has opened after a mining bucket was dislodged falling across both lanes about 7am Wednesday at Epsom. Nebo Senior Constable Andrew Perrett said the recovery equipment had been removed and both lanes were now open. A police spokesman said the traffic had been backed up 15km during the morning, with diversions in place for vehicles. 3.55PM: A second crane has arrived at the Peak Downs Highway at Epsom after a mining truck bucket was dislodged falling across both lanes about 7am. A police spokesman said traffic was backed up 15km on the highway after the incident with road closures in place for most of the day.
