99th Annual Fireman’s Fair in Osceola Mills 3:45 am
We begin with parades and celebrations for Independence Day popping up across our region. The 99th Annual Fireman’s Fair took place in Osceola Mills on Saturday.
Fire and EMS Stations from Centre County and the surrounding area sent their Tankers and Trucks to be judged at the event, which was hosted by the Columbia Volunteer Fire Company. After last year’s event was cancelled, the Organization’s Vice President says the support this year made up for it. Trevor Harris, Vice-President of Columbia VFC saying: “With COVID last year, we took a huge hit, crowds weren’t the same, turnouts weren’t the same, but this year, it was an amazing year, everybody came out, everyone wanted to come out and be with their families and support the fire department, and we really loved all the support we get from them.”

During normal times, the firefighters would have been honored by Governor Charlie Baker at the Annual Firefighter of the Year Awards Ceremony. The event will still happen next week, but it will be conducted virtually instead of in person.
The good news is that anyone in the Greater New Bedford area can watch the ceremony on a Facebook Live stream or by clicking here and watching it on YouTube. The virtual event will happen this coming Monday morning, March 8, at 10:30 a.m.
If you miss the live feed, the ceremony will be archived here.
The New Bedford Fire Department says it will schedule an in-person ceremony when public health conditions improve.
