Oklahoma angler wins easily at Dardanelle
Monday, May 10, 2021
Kirk Smith of Edmond, Okla. brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 19-15 to win the three-day Lake Dardanelle Plains Division Toyota Series event out of Russellville, Ark. His three-day total of 15 bass weighing 51-03 earned him the win by a 6-pound margin over 2nd-place angler Zach King of Clarksville, Ark., and earned Smith the top payout of $36,104.
Smith said he considers himself an offshore and electronics geek, a combo that helped him blow it out on Lake Dardanelle. While the majority of the fields success seemed to go up and down throughout the event, Smith had a pattern like no one else that allowed him to lay off early the first two days and still be leading by an ounce.

BassFan Senior Editor Andy Newcomb s runner-up finish at the Lake of the Ozarks Plains Division Toyota Series event in early March was his best to that point at the triple-A level. A few weeks later, he did himself one better on the same circuit at Grand Lake.
The 33-year-old from Camdenton, Mo. took top honors at Grand with a three-day total of 52-13, eclipsing 2nd-place finisher Chris M. Jones by 11 ounces. The Top 10 had begun the final day separated by only about 4 pounds and when he arrived at the weigh-in, he didn t think his 15-11 bag would be sufficient to garner him the trophy.
