OTTAWA Ottawa Fire says more than 80 cattle have died in a large barn fire near Manotick. Ottawa fire says multiple 911 calls came in around 7:20 p.m. Thursday. Callers reported black smoke coming from a barn on First Line Road, near Century Road East. The black smoke and flames were visible from several kilometres away. When firefighters arrived on scene, Ottawa Fire says the barn was fully engulfed in flames. Ottawa Fire tweeted that crews set up an aerial tower vehicle to fight the fire from above. Crews added that a tanker vehicle was also being used to shuttle water from a nearby hydrant.

Ottawa firefighters battles two separate fires overnight.
Several 911 calls were received at 10:24 p.m. Saturday reporting thick black smoke from the back of a building on St. Patrick Street. When crews arrived flames and smoke were visible from the 2nd floor.

The fire was quickly extinguished and under control by 10:42 p.m and contained to the 2nd floor apartment in a 14 unit building.
There we no reported injuries.
A fire inspector was called to the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two paddleboarders escaped injury Sunday after their boards were swept into the Deschênes rapids on the Ottawa River.
Emergency response teams rushed to the scene after getting 911 calls at about noon.

The paddleboarders had been swept into the rapids by an extremely strong current. They managed to tie themselves to each other and then to a buoy in the water, said Ottawa Fire Services.
After firefighters arrived on the scene, they were able to confirm the location of the paddleboarders and launch a boat immediately to help them back to shore at the Nepean Sailing Club, where the paddleboarders were assessed by paramedics. There were no injuries.
OTTAWA Two cats died in an apartment fire in Ottawa s Pineview neighbourhood Thursday afternoon, one of three fires firefighters responded to in a span of three hours. Just before 5 p.m., Ottawa Fire received a 911 call from a resident reporting a kitchen fire on Appleton Drive, between Meadowbrook Road and Beaverpond Drive. The kitchen fire was located in a unit on the fourth floor of the four storey residential building. The fire damage was limited to the unit. One person has been displaced. Ottawa Fire Services got multiple 911 calls starting at 8:57 p.m. reporting flames visible from a balcony on the roof of the hotel at the intersection of Dalhousie and York streets.
Arriving four minutes later, firefighters made their way to the rooftop and found the deck and patio furnishings had been consumed by the flames. They had the fire under control at 9:11 p.m. after making sure it hadn’t spread into the structure.
An Ottawa Fire Services investigator went to the scene and determined the fire likely originated from a cigarette discarded in a planter box.
