Nepal’s Susma Tamang has provided the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce, Poland with one of its indelible moments as she became her country’s first-ever winner in the history of the competition.
Nepal sent two women boxers to the Championships after strong preparations in Kathmandu where their selection events have been held.
Tamang has developed well in terms of speed and punching power in recent years and she used the pandemic period to upgrade her skills.
The fruits of her labour became evident in her bout against Lithuania’s Dija Bajalyte who competed at the last edition of the European Youth Boxing Championships.

New Delhi, April 14 : India began their campaign at the AIBA Youth Men s and Women s World Boxing Championships in the Polish city of Kielce on a promising note with Asian Youth champion Vinka (60kg) and Poonam (57kg) winning their preliminary bouts.
Vinka had to dig deep to score an exciting 3-2 win over Russia s Panteleeva Daria in her first match of the tournament. She will next face Bohatjuk Tara of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kielce : , April 14 (IANS) The 2019 Asian Youth Champion Vinka and Poonam kicked off their campaign on a winning note to give India a perfect start at the AIBA Youth Men s and Women s World Championships.
Playing in the women s 60kg category, Vinka, who bagged gold medal in the recently-concluded Adriatic Pearl Tournament, registered a 3-2 victory against her Russian opponent Panteleeva Daria while Poonam produced a flawless performance to outclass Columbia s Arboleda Valeria 5-0 in the women s 57kg opening round bout.
