Letter: Adrian mayor won with hard work, integrity

The Daily Telegram In the Saturday, May 15, edition of The Daily Telegram there was an opinion by a letter-writer who was extremely critical of three prominent local families. I personally find this opinion very offensive. If it wasn t for these families, would we have a new, updated hospital north of the city? Would we have an updated and advanced Croswell Opera House? Would we have many downtown buildings revitalized? Would we have many of our nonprofits supported and helping the community? The list goes on and on. Mayor Angie Sword Heath won her election with her hard work, integrity and community concerns. It wasn t bought by donations from certain mentioned families, like the writer implies. Hard work and good ethics wins local elections.

Adrian City Attorney Tamaris Henagan resigns, cites ethical concerns

The Daily Telegram ADRIAN Citing “ethical concerns,” Adrian City Attorney Tamaris Henagan submitted her resignation Monday following her annual review by the city commission.  The commission has scheduled a special meeting for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, to formally accept Henagan’s resignation and appoint the law firm of Garan Lucow Miller of Ann Arbor as the interim city attorney.  Henagan told the commission she was going to resign regardless of the outcome of the evaluation, and cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct from the Michigan Supreme Court in the resignation letter she read to the commission.  “Unfortunately, due to ethical concerns that have been raised, I do not believe I will be able to continue forward as the attorney for the city of Adrian,” Henagan read from her letter. “I’ve notified the city administrator and the commission of those concerns to no avail. As such, I’m under a legal obligation to place these concerns in writing

Adrian City Commission looking at ordinance to allow food trucks

Adrian City Commission looking at ordinance to allow food trucks Martha A. Churchill Special to The Daily Telegram ADRIAN  It’s possible a few food trucks may appear in parks or parking lots around Adrian late this summer.  That could happen, if the Adrian City Commission continues to discuss an ordinance approving food trucks, which would probably be limited to certain public parks or perhaps even some parking areas downtown.  As he introduced the ordinance to the city commissioners during a premeeting Monday, city administrator Greg Elliott said the draft ordinance is based on the law used by Traverse City.
