Baxter, CPD reunite on Hamilton Center ice

Courtesy-CPD COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Police Department ( CPD) officers Brian Wilder, Angie Owens, Frank Dickman, and Ben Quesenbery were reunited Friday night with Emma Baxter during the annual Lincoln Center Skate Club’s Ice Show at Hamilton Center. It was a much happier get-together than the last time they met. The officers came to the skating star’s aid after she was attacked and seriously injured in the Hamilton Center parking lot last fall as she arrived to work as a skating instructor. She had been stabbed during the early morning hours of Friday, October 22, 2020. Baxter was flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of her injuries and later recuperated at home.

Opinion: San Marcos has limited care options for women with Medicaid

Molly Gonzales San Marcos is currently plagued with a severe lack of obstetricians and gynecologists (OB/GYN) who accept Medicaid, and the issue needs to be addressed. For a woman, going to an OB/GYN is an important part of learning more about her body and gleaning information about various health issues that could arise throughout her life. Having limited women s health facilities that take Medicaid makes it harder for women with that insurance to find necessary care. Angie Owens moved to San Marcos last May and has yet to find an OB/GYN facility that accepts her current Medicaid insurance. Out of sheer desperation, she went to the Nextdoor app to see if anyone had any insight on where to go. Surprisingly, there were others experiencing the same issue. After the overwhelming amount of responses, she soon realized she was not the only one in the isolating bubble of not being able to seek treatment.

That is a slight decrease from last year, she said. Sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #89, Shop With A Cop begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday inside the west side Walmart, 2025 Merchant Mile. All participants will be required to wear masks, as well as comply with any other regulations or precautions the store management requests, lodge president Alan Trisler said.
