Patiala: BJP functionaries including Punjab president Ashwani Kumar Sharma and former minister Madan Mohan Mittal faced protest by farmers in Mandi Gobindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib district, on Friday night when they were holding a meeting with party workers.
Sharma and Mittal had reached a party worker’s house in Mandi Gobindgarh on Friday evening and held a meeting with all workers to discuss strategy for the upcoming municipal council elections and distribution of tickets.
However, some farmers gathered near the party worker’s house and started raising slogans around 8pm. Police reached the spot on getting information about farmers protesting against the BJP leaders.

Chandigarh: As a form of protest against the Centre s new farm laws, a group of unidentified people on Friday (January 1) dumped a heap of cow dung outside the house of a Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader at Hosiarpur in Punjab.
According to a media report, a tractor trolley carrying cow dung was unloaded outside the house of BJP leader Tikshan Sud in Hoshiarpur.
Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Kumar Sharma condemned the incident.
Some protestors are losing restrain even after being asked to keep the protests calm.
New Delhi: A group of people unloaded a dung-laden trolley in front of a Punjab BJP leader s house in Hoshirpur on Friday, prompting Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to warn those protesting over the new farm laws not to take law in their hands.
Some people, believed to be farmers, unloaded the trolley in front of the residence of former Punjab minister Tikshan Sud in Hoshiarpur.
They also raised slogans against the Centre for its alleged callous attitude towards farmers demands.
