British multinational insurance company Aviva has halted its Vietnam operations via a sale of its entire shareholding in its Vietnam life insurance business to Canadian insurance business Manulife’s Asian business, Manulife Financial Asia. The all-cash transaction is expected to close in the second half of next year, subject to meeting certain regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Aviva first established its Vietnam presence in August 2017. Asia was described at the time by the company as “a region of strategic importance” where new opportunities were emerging.
