XCOM 3 wishlist: everything fans want from a new XCOM game

your ideal threequel wishlist include? No, you can’t have more “sexy sneks”. A Better Geoscape The geoscape is one of the most important parts of XCOM, but it doesn’t get the love it deserves. While the original UFO Defense iteration in 1994 let you build extra bases, control staff, and ultimately fight the war on a planetary scale Firaxis went for a smaller approach in XCOM and turned the geoscape into a monitoring tool for satellites. XCOM 2 was a bit more ambitious with the Geoscape, letting you travel around the globe in the Avenger – a starship turned flying headquarters – but it kept Enemy Unknown’s reactive philosophy by constantly interrupting research and scans with unskippable events.

Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games have announced that they are working on a new story-driven, open-world  Star Wars game. The game s development will be led by Massive Entertainment and will utilise the company s proprietary Snowdrop engine. “The vast Star Wars lore is an incredible source of inspiration for our teams,” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft. “This is the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games, and we are pleased to be working hand-in-hand to build upon the incredible legacy of Lucasfilm to create a game that we know Star Wars fans will love,” Guillemot added.

Ubisoft are making a Star Wars game with Lucasfilm Games – TheSixthAxis

13/01/21 Comments Closed Just yesterday I was talking about EA’s Star Wars license and how it ends in 2023 and now we have reports of the first Star Wars game that will be released after the agreement expires. According to Wired the newly resurrected Lucasfilm Games are teaming up with Ubisoft to create an open world Star Wars game. The Division 2‘s Julian Gerighty is reported to be onboard as creative director, Ubisoft Massive are on development duties and the game will run on Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, also created by Ubisoft Massive. That’s it as far as details go but the project is clearly very early in production, and as mentioned, EA have the exclusive license until the end of 2023 so don’t expect any Star Wars fun for Ubisoft until 2024. Wired are suggesting that the exclusivity deal may be wound up early, but a big open world game will take a few years to develop.
