BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Following the executive order from the governor of South Carolina, some school districts in the Lowcountry are lifting more COVID-19 restrictions.
If you have a child who goes to school in Beaufort County, masks are officially optional.
Governor Henry McMaster issued an executive order Tuesday evening requiring schools to allow parents to make a choice on whether their children will wear a mask in school.
In Beaufort County, parents must send a note to the child’s school saying they do not have to wear a mask. The governor stated DHEC will be releasing a form parents can officially sign later.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - With just weeks left in the school year, school districts are now scrambling to respond to the governorâs executive order restricting face mask mandates in classrooms across the state.
Many teachers argued that the timing of the action had put them in a difficult and frustrating position because they were required to sign their contracts just a day before the change was announced.

Other smaller South Carolina cities and towns, generally with populations of less than 50,000, will likewise receive an allocation from the Fiscal Recovery Funds. Current plans call for the federal government to release an additional $435,125,080 to the State of South Carolina for disbursement to the cities and towns.
