New $20M fund aims to protect Manitoba s provincial parks in perpetuity
A promise by the province to to protect and improve Manitoba parks was met with scrutiny on Thursday for the way the government hopes to capitalize on private funds.

Just west of Winnipeg, Beaudry Provincial Park’s trails were primarily empty Tuesday afternoon, as strong winds whipped through clearings, blew globs of snow from craggy oaks, and carved daunting snowdrifts across roadways.
Despite the snowstorm or rather, thanks to it University of Winnipeg biology student Luke Roffey set out for a ski this morning, clad in his father’s equipment.

Beverly Hills resident Charles “Chuck” Green is a talented photographer who enjoys sharing his knowledge, talents, and works. Many in the community benefit. After retiring from his 30-year career in the Coast Guard in 1996, Green began studying photography.
“I studied with Monte Nagler. He is an award-winning local writer, lecturer and teacher of photography who studied with Ansel Adams,” Green said. “He is a magnificent photographer. He kindled a fire within me;”
Nature photography is the favorite topic for Green. National parks including Yellowstone and Yosemite, the 150 waterfalls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, southeast Alaska, Florida, Wyoming, Arizona and sites where animals and birds may be found attract him and his cameras.

With local municipalities hungering for new power to accommodate residential and greenhouse industrial growth, Hydro One has selected the preferred route for its planned Chatham-to-Lakeshore transmission line project.
Several Essex County municipalities in recent years have been pushing for the new high-power electrical line due to escalating hydro demand from the expanding agri-food greenhouse sector and new housing.
