We, the concerned members of the Alpena County Democratic Party, call for Jack Bergman to immediately resign as representative of the Michigan 1st Congressional District. His actions to overturn the legitimate results of the Nov. 3, 2020 election, even after the horrifying attack on our nation’s Capitol, were traitorous.
If he refuses to resign, we call on the House Ethics Committee to recommend that the full House expel Mr. Bergman, under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. We also call for him to be barred for life from holding elected office.
As a retired lieutenant general, Mr. Bergman’s conduct should also be reviewed by the Defense Department for disciplinary action under the Uniform Code of Military Conduct. By actively participating in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Bergman committed sedition against the United States of America.
