In commemoration of Earth Day, the Alpena County Democratic Party recently conducted a cleanup of several county areas containing littered trash or illegal dump sites. The cleanup was held on Saturday, April 24.

Regarding the stop sign at Miller and 2nd Avenue: Best to leave things the way they are. Stop signs will not slow traffic on 2nd Avenue, which is the problem. The motorists on 2nd Avenue are traveling way too fast and (make) improper left hand turns. Miller Street has about four times the traffic as Fletcher or Oldfield. People who work at Besser, the hospital and shops on Long Lake Avenue all use Miller St.
