Georgia Technical Colleges Partner on Workforce Development
Technical colleges in Albany and Thomasville, Georgia, are collaborating on a federally funded workforce development program for low- and moderate-income residents impacted by Hurricane Michael in October 2018.
May 27, 2021 • (TNS) Albany Technical College and Southern Regional Technical College will officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday. The signing will be held at 11 a.m. on the campus of Albany Technical College in the Logistics Education Center board room.
This agreement is to establish the relationship of the two colleges concerning the implementation of a Workforce Development Program to be funded with the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery allocation appropriated to the state by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Dougherty Countyâs GEAR UP program is getting a boost this summer from a federal grant.
The program follows students from sixth grade to high school, offering them academic and extracurricular help.
Dougherty County is currently serving its first class of GEAR UP, students. They do a lot in the seven years with the group.
âWe provide academic tutoring, access to STEM education, leadership skills, anything that will ensure that they are successful once they graduate high school and step foot on a campus, in the military, or join the workforce,â said Dr. Alana Simmons, the program director.
