ALBANY, N.Y. â Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy provided the latest update on the progress being made in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday.
McCoy confirmed that as of Thursday, 61.3% of Albany Countyâs population has received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 53.6% have been fully vaccinated. The first dose vaccination rate for the countyâs 18+ population is at 72.2%, with 52.8% fully vaccinated.
Those figures rate ahead of the statewide percentages, which show the first dose vaccination rate at 52.8%, and full vaccination rate of 44.8%. Albany County has administered or reallocated 68,321 first and second doses of the vaccine to date.

COEYMANS A town man who was reported missing on Thursday was found dead Friday morning in the Hannacroix Creek, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was found submerged in the creek in an area near where friends had last seen him, Sheriff Craig Apple said in a news release.
Members of the sheriff’s department search and rescue team, using a drone, located the man deceased, police said.
