ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy confirmed one new coronavirus linked death on Thursday. The victim was a man in his 70s. That brought the COVID-19 death toll for Albany County to 348 since the pandemic began being tracked last March. The county executive noted 116 new positive cases. The five-day average for new daily positives has increased to 73.8 from 65.2.  Encompassed within the new cases, were 75 who had close contact with positive cases, 33 who did not have clear sources of infection at present, four reported traveling out of state, and four are healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings. There are 582 active cases in the county, up from 551 Wednesday. The number of people under mandatory quarantine remained the same at 1,407. Conversely, 81 cases have been cleared for recovery and release.
