MUSCAT: The fishermen villages which are being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries, and Water Resources in the governorates, are among the infrastructure projects which aim to encourage Omani fishermen to preserve their occupation by providing them with the basic requirements in an effort to raise the fisheries sector’s contribution to the GDP and generate job opportunities for the national youth.
The fishermen village project in Masirah Island is one of the model villages of fishermen. With complete services and facilities, the fishermen village has a capacity to accommodate nearly 50 fishing boats made of permanent materials with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries, and Water Resources.
JEDDAH: Plant-based snack food startup Freakin’ Healthy, which was established in 2018 by Saudi-born Lebanese-Canadian entrepreneur Roy Koyess, plans to quadruple the number of stores it serves in the Kingdom by the end of this year.
Koyess came up with the Freakin’ Healthy concept in 2017, and it was launched in Dubai the following year.
Containing no wheat, dairy, refined cane sugar, gluten, preservatives, artificial colors, flavoring or soy, the brand has been distributing 10 product lines to around 250 locations in Saudi Arabia, including supermarkets, gyms and cinemas.
By the end of the first quarter of 2021, the company is on target to distribute 20 products lines in the Kingdom, with the aim of reaching 30 by the end of the year.
Dhofar Fisheries and Food Company exports ‘Made in Oman’ products to 20 countries worldwide

Muscat: Many of ‘Made in Oman’ products enjoy high-quality characteristics and the ability to compete and be present in local and global markets. The products of Dhofar Fisheries and Food Company, a company investing in Raysut Industrial City since 1997, are present today in 20 countries around the world.
Hamid bin Ali Al Nahdi, the Company’s General Manager, stated that due to increasing demands on its products, the company has increased the capacity from 1,600 tonnes to 11,000 tonnes of refrigerated warehouses equipped with the latest technology to store sufficient quantity of fish and sardines.
