SCOOPLET: MAYPOLL Boston mayoral candidate Jon Santiago tested voter sentiment recently regarding himself, former Mayor Marty Walsh and Democrats in the Massachusetts legislature, a source has confirmed.
Screenshots of the survey obtained by POLITICO show respondents being asked to give their opinions of various people including other mayoral candidates and Santiago, an emergency room doctor and state representative. Another screenshot shares Santiago’s backstory, from growing up in subsidized housing, to becoming a Fulbright scholar and attending Yale School of Medicine “against the odds.�

Spring of 2021 is off to a busy start in Washington, D.C. The Biden-Harris Administration continues working towards union-friendly outcomes and withdrawing and revising Trump-era regulations. On March 22, 2021, in a 68-29 vote, the United States Senate confirmed President Biden’s nominee, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, as the new secretary for the Department of Labor. Following the vote, Walsh stated:
“I share [the Biden-Harris Administration’s] commitment to building an economy that works for every single American. I spent my entire career fighting for working people and I’m eager to continue that fight in Washington.”
Tishaura Jones has made history as the first Black woman elected mayor in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. Jones reportedly received more than 51 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s election. She is slated to be sworn in on April 20.
“St. Louis, this is an opportunity for us to rise,” Jones told voters in a victory speech that detailed her ancestral heritage and quoted poet Maya Angelou. “I told you when I was running that we aren’t done avoiding tough conversations. We are done ignoring the racism that has held our city and our region back.”
Jones, 49, is described as a champion for working families who has spent her career serving the people of Missouri.
