Breach of Official Secrets Act : Congress Attacks PMO Over Arnab WhatsApp Chats

New Delhi: A day after former Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his office for allegedly aiding the leak of sensitive national security information to pro-Hindutva television anchor Arnab Goswami, his party upped its ante. It demanded that âthe prime minister should come clean on these accusations immediately in order to restore the severely damaged credibility of the highest office of the country.â

New Delhi:Â A sessions court in Mumbai has rejected the bail application of former CEO of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta, who was arrested in the television rating points (TRP) scam.
Dasgupta was arrested on December 24 and is one of the prime accused in the alleged manipulation of TRPs. The Mumbai police recently filed a 3,400-page chargesheet in which they annexed WhatsApp chats between Republic TV founder Arnab Goswami and Dasgupta, alleging that they colluded to inflate the channel’s ratings. Dasgupta is accused of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena, in its party mouthpiece Saamana, has attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party in its party mouthpiece Saamana over the recent chat leaks of Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.
The Maharashtra party said that if talking of national information is anti-national and acting on such issues is an emergency-like situation , then their definition of nationalism needs to be examined.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh will be chairing a high-level meeting on Tuesday to decide upon the next course of action in the Arnab Chat Gate. The state government is also looking into how Goswami got access to sensitive information such as on matters pertaining to Balakot airstrikes in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack. We are gathering information about the leaked chats between Arnab Goswami and Partho Dasgupta. Some highly sensitive things including the Balakot airstrike & the Pulwama attack have been mentioned in the chats, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, news agency ANI reported.
