#ArnabChatGate: Opposition demands probe over PMO s reference in chat excerpts between ex-BARC CEO and Arnab Goswami

Screenshots of purported WhatsApp conversations between Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami and the arrested ex-CEO of TV ratings agency BARC, Partho Dasgupta form part of Mumbai police’s 3,600-page supplementary chargesheet in the TRP scam. The screenshots, that have also been leaked on social media, suggest bids by top BARC executives to manipulate ratings in favour of Republic TV and the Hindi channel Republic Bharat. The WhatsApp conversations make reference to the PMO to which the Opposition has demanded a probe.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh will be chairing a high-level meeting on Tuesday to decide upon the next course of action in the Arnab Chat Gate. The state government is also looking into how Goswami got access to sensitive information such as on matters pertaining to Balakot airstrikes in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack. We are gathering information about the leaked chats between Arnab Goswami and Partho Dasgupta. Some highly sensitive things including the Balakot airstrike & the Pulwama attack have been mentioned in the chats, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, news agency ANI reported.
