While the former MLA J.R. Lobo accused Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath of interfering with vaccination process and sending his followers to the Government Wenlock Hospital on Monday for receiving Covaxin, Mr. Kamath denied it and said that there was no question of him interfering with the system.

6,170 doses of vaccine administered in Dakshina Kannada
Vaccination continued at a brisk pace at government health facilities in Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday with 6,170 doses (88.6 %) of the 7,000 doses of vaccine that arrived on Tuesday being administered.
The 7,000 doses of Covishield vaccine was sent to the District Vaccine Store in Mangaluru from Bengaluru on Tuesday evening. The store also received 2,000 doses and 7,000 doses of the vaccine for Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts, respectively. And, they were taken by road to the two districts on Tuesday night itself. The three districts are yet to get Covaxin supply.

Give information of vaccine stock early to people, says MLA
While asking the authorities concerned to give preference to those who come to vaccination centres for their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath on Wednesday said that information about availability of vaccine should be given to people early and they should not be made to wait for long outside vaccination centres.
Expressing anguish over people waiting outside the AYUSH Block of the Government Wenlock Hospital since 8 a.m., Mr. Kamath said,

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) on Tuesday supplied 5.5 tonnes of oxygen to Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, as part of the efforts to provide 100 tonnes of oxygen to government hospitals in the State.
A release from SKDRDP here said that Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade gave instructions to provide oxygen to government hospitals in view of reports of oxygen shortage in the State. SKDRDP got in touch with Jindal Steels plant at Torangal in Ballari to get oxygen.
As part of its efforts, one cryogenic tanker carrying 5.5 tonnes of oxygen reached Mangaluru. It was handed over to the district administration through Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra in the presence of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel by SKDRDP COO Anil Kumar.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) will be establishing five oxygen generation plants in Dakshina Kannada and in other parts of Karnataka to support the State Government’s fight against the second wave of the Covid pandemic.
A press statement by the company said on Monday that MRPL will be setting up a 930 litres per minute plant at Government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Shell-MRPL Aviation, a joint venture between MRPL and Shell, will be contributing ₹75 lakh for this initiative. MRPL has already placed order for this unit to Summits Hygronics Pvt Ltd for an order value of ₹1.12 crore, it said.
