Outside the A&E department of the Royal Bolton Hospital ANOTHER day has passed with no more coronavirus-related deaths confirmed at the Royal Bolton Hospital. As of this afternoon, 646 people have died at the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days since the start of the pandemic. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned the easing of lockdown restrictions will inevitably lead to more infections and deaths as the NHS moved to the next stage of vaccine rollout by inviting people aged between 45 and 50 to book an appointment. He has urged people to continue to exercise restraint as beer gardens were packed and shoppers flocked to high streets after government s rules were lifted on Monday.

Tributes paid to caring and easy-going Bolton theatre nurse, 68

Liz, née Whinray, was born and raised in Settle, North Yorkshire. After leaving school, she worked as a nursery nurse assistant in Skipton for a few years, before deciding to switch to a career in nursing. She completed her nurse training at Airedale General Hospital while she was in her early twenties, and worked as a nurse in Morecambe, Newcastle and Lancaster. Liz moved to Bolton in 1979, after meeting her future husband David, who was from the area, at a party. They married in 1986 and lived in Little Lever. In Bolton, Liz worked as a theatre recovery nurse at Bolton Royal Infirmary (where her colleagues nicknamed her ‘Stingray’) and later at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Vivien Taylor Tributes have been paid to Vivien Taylor, who passed away on March 15 at the age of 75. Vivien was a dearly-loved partner of Ken, a devoted mum to Elspeth, Nikki, Chris and Barbara. She was also a treasured nan and relative, and a friend to many. Born and raised in Bolton,Vivien attended Oldhams Primary School and Smithills Secondary School. Upon finishing her education, she joined the Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC), working as a drill sergeant and spending time stationed in Germany. She loved the job, and remained in the army for six years. After leaving the army, Vivien moved to Huddersfield, where she lived and worked on a farm. She was an animal-lover through and through, and was always giving stray dogs and cats a home throughout her life.
