According to the latest figures released by the NHS three patients died of Covid-19 on February 3. This takes the total amount of deaths as a result of Covid to 566 since the start of the pandemic. The first death as a result of coronavirus at the Royal Bolton Hospital was on March 20 last year. Overall a further 537 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 74,786, NHS England said on Friday. Patients were aged between 15 and 100.
Shahina Mohamed, an advanced clinical pharmacist, received 10,000th Pfizer jab this afternoon. The hospital team behind the mass vaccination programme received the call just after Christmas that their supplies had arrived and the roll-out began immediately, starting with the hospital frontline staff before inviting staff which support frontline services and the borough s wider health and care staff. They administered 10,000 vaccines in just six weeks. The team will now step down before starting the roll-out of the second dose next month.

A vital new clinical assessment area has opened at the hospital, hoping to reduce A&E congestion. The new area was opened on February 1 and is part of the hospital s urgent care services to help reduce the congestion often seen in the A&E department. The hospital hopes this will also help minimise the spread of coronavirus at the site and help them move patients to the most appropriate place in the hospital to minimise the spread. It will help the medical team to be able to assess patients from a variety of areas properly before taking them (triaging) to the most appropriate department for care, or whether the patient can be discharged straight away.
