With Syawal just around the corner, Muslims are busy preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations while adhering to the Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines and standard operating procedures in controlling the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) shared matters that need to be taken into account before and during the Aidilfitri festivities, among which is a call for the public to increase vigilance and take precautionary measures. Marine Police personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) detained a 51-year-old local man who allegedly attempted to smuggle contraband along the waterways of Tanjung Semesta on Thursday.
During a patrol along Brunei River, police personnel noticed a boat, leading the man on the boat to attempt an escape.
Police personnel stopped the boat and on inspection found two packets of Ayamas nuggets and 20 packets of Wise Choice sausages believed to have been smuggled into the country.
The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

MAY 8, 1971 – The opening of the new Brunei Teachers’ College (BTC) in Gadong, Bandar Seri Begawan, is a step forward in the state’s educational system and fulfils a long-felt need.
The BND5-million complex situated in pleasant surroundings away from the noise and bustle of the capital has been planned to produce the quantity and quality of trained teachers the state needs for its fast increasing school-going population.
In past years the teachers the college had been able to send out to the schools had fallen far short of the country’s requirements both in numbers and standard.

Personnel from the Bangar Police Station seized 103 cartons of cigarettes and 96 cans of beer during an evening operation, with the suspect evading arrest.
According to Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), a vehicle suspected of conveying contraband items was stopped on Thursday in the vicinity of Kampong Belais Kecil, Temburong District.
As the police approached, the driver made off into the nearby jungle, leaving the vehicle behind.
