MAY 21, 2001 – Dusun community’s traditional festival Adau Gayoh held at Kampung Bukit in Tutong yesterday attracted not only locals but also foreign tourists. The event, grandly celebrated and organised jointly by the Kampong Bukit and Kampong Long Mayan Village Consultative Council committees, also showcased traditional musical performances as well as handicraft exhibition. A tourist who spoke to the media said she was enthralled by the musical instruments and other accessories for the various demonstrations of native cultures, especially local ethnic food items. Another tourist Nicky was totally engrossed with the workings of the local Dusun game trap, meant for bird and smaller animals such as mousedeer and deer.

The BND5-million complex situated in pleasant surroundings away from the noise and bustle of the capital has been planned to produce the quantity and quality of trained teachers the state needs for its fast increasing school-going population. In past years the teachers the college had been able to send out to the schools had fallen far short of the country’s requirements both in numbers and standard.
