Elaine Crowley “My dad was my teacher in fifth and sixth class and was also our school principal. I was quite a good pupil, but I got into trouble once when he caught me cheating in a maths test. He never mentioned it at home as he never brought school back, which was great.
“When I moved to Dublin for college, I wasn’t dating much and didn’t have a boyfriend. I got excited when a red envelope came in on Valentine’s Day, but then I recognised my dad’s handwriting, even though he tried to disguise it. I also saw the Newtwopothouse post office mark on it, so it didn’t take a genius to work it out.
