Home Minister Amit Shah participated in a roadshow in Puducherry on Thursday to seek the support of voters for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates as the union territory is set to vote for April 6 Assembly elections.

The bitter back-and-forth over the question of a fisheries ministry continued Sunday, with Home Minister Amit Shah the latest BJP leader to take on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over last week s remark about fishermen needing a separate ministry to attend to their needs.

Karaikkal, Feb 28: Lambasting the erstwhile Congress government in Puducherry, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday alleged V Narayansamy, who headed it, gave cut money to the Gandhi family from Rs 15,000 crore Central funds.

Addressing an election rally of BJP here, an enclave of the union territory, Shah claimed the Congress government, which collapsed earlier this month after losing majority, indulged in petty politics over Central schemes meant for Puducherry.
He charged the former chief minister with focussing more on serving the Gandhi family in Delhi and giving cut money .

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday (February 28) slammed the Congress for dynasticism, saying it was the reason for the party’s disintegrating across the country.
“With so many big leaders joining BJP, the Congress party is disintegrating not only in Puducherry but across the country due to dynasticism,” said Shah, addressing a public rally in the Karaikal district of Puducherry ahead of the upcoming elections.
Shah asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the government in the union territory in the upcoming polls.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while campaigning for the Assembly elections in Puducherry on Sunday, hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for not knowing that the Centre had set up a fisheries department back in 2019. Several Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have criticised the Congress leader for his remark.
“Bhaiya [brother] Rahul, you were on vacation [when the fisheries department was set up],” Shah said at a rally in Puducherry’s Karaikal town. “Modi ji [Prime Minister Narendra Modi] had finished work on the department in 2019 itself, but you [Gandhi] don’t know that.”
