Pune Police arrests MCOCA-accused RTI activist

(Image for Representation) RTI activist Ravindra Barhate, who was on the run for the past 18 months, was arrested from Bibvewadi area of Pune city. The stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was invoked against Ravindra Barhate who has 17 cases against his name. Barhate has 17 cases against his name, including for fraud and land grabbing, after which MCOCA was invoked against him and his associates, Pune police commissioner Amitabh Gupta said. MCOCA has been invoked in two case that had been registered at Chaturshringi and Hadapsar police station. Amitabh Gupta mentioned that till date, 32 of his accomplice have been arrested, and Barhate is the 33rd arrest. He is alleged to be the mastermind in all the 17 cases registered in Pune city.
